Kartel Trial: Read Shane Williams Statement That Set Him Free

On February 12 when Shane Williams rose to give his unsworn statement in his defence at the murder trial of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams, he wept, saying he did not know why he was there.

The prosecution had charged Williams as well as dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel and three other men for the August 2011 murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams.

But today Williams was freed.

All the other men were found guilty.

Williams who was linked to the murder because of an alleged voice on a video was moved to tears as he told the court:

“That is not my voice on the video,” he said.

Williams gave a very short statement proclaiming his innocence.

“I have never been to 7 Swallowfield Avenue,” he said referring to the location of Kartel’s house the murder is said to have occurred.

“I am innocent and I don’t even know why I am even here,” he said.

Shawn Campbell – GUILTY
Kahira Jones – GUILTY
Shane Williams – Not GUILTY
Andre St John – GUILTY
