The 2016 edition of Belgium reggae festival “Reggae Geel” was a massive success with a solid line up and great vibes. Most of the artistes gave great performances. Veteran artistes like Beres Hammond, Pinchers and Wayne Wonder lived up to the expectation. Tarrus Riley (with a short guest appearance from Konshens), Alaine, Kymani Marley and Gentleman also showed why they were Saturday’s headliners; rock solid performances with lots of vibes that moved the crowd.
Organisation
On both days there were complaints about the car parking “situation” or rather disaster. Some people said they had been in traffic jams for hours, missing some of the performances, before reaching the festival terrain.
Where was Popcaan?
It was a huge blow for a large part of the crowd when they heard the short announcement “Popcaan wasn’t able to make it”. The announcement was made when the unruly artiste’s performance was supposed to begin.

The reason for Popcaan’s absence is still unclear. Popcaan performed at Drake’s OVO fest in Toronto (Canada) last week and according to his Instagram he was still (at an airport) in Canada on Thursday night. We are waiting for an official statement from the Reggae Geel organisation or Popcaan’s management.
