Tessanne Reaches Top 8 on #TheVoice!

Jamaicans and reggae fans world-wide were relieved when it became clear that Jamaican reggae star Tessanne Chin made it to the final eight on the NBC show The Voice. There were very nervous times because her name was the fifth of the eight contenders that was called during the live show.

Tessanne was clearly nervous because both her Adam Levine-coached teammates, Will Champlin and James Wolpert were among the earlier called finalists.

The calling of her name by host Carson Daly left Tessanne visibly very relieved and draw out wild cheers inside the Universal Studios.

A confident Chin took to the stage with fellow competitor Caroline Pennell for a performance of “Royals” by Lorde.

The other contenders who joined Chin for next week’s edition are: Jacquie Lee, Matthew Schuler, Ray Boudreaux, Cole Vosbury, and Caroline Pennell who was saved by Twitter votes.

The acts that dropped out of the top 10 were Austin Jenckes and Kat Robichaud.

Following Chin’s performance on Monday night her coach said that he was happy to have talked her into performing “If I Were Your Woman” by Gladys Knight, the soul music classic as her delivery solidified her as a major contender for the title.
