Internationally acclaimed record label A.B.R.A Records under A.B.R.A Tribe have done it again. The record label which is popularly credited with the monster track rise up Zimbabwe and other iconic productions such as Kiswa bhutsu by winky D and Ngoni Kambarami’s 2013 hit song “Zvaunondiita so” which is making rounds on radio, are to release a new production on the 22nd of March 2013 titled Kenyan Empress Riddim. The Music was composed by awarding winning producer Tawanda “Jusa Dementor” Sibotshiwe.
It features Kenyan and Jamaican artists lining up alongside Zimbabwean artists. The Project was managed by one of the recently appointed C.E.O’s of A.B.R.A Tribe Marshall Chibamu who is also the and President of A.B.R.A Records. When he was asked about the concept behind the compilation the Marshall and his counterpart from Kenya Deejay Flammez mentioned that they were inspired by the street coined phrase ‘exporting zim dancehall to the world”.
Marshall said ”There is a lot of belief among Zimbabweans that dancehall music has come of age and needs cross borders. A.B.R.A Tribe have always facilitated collaborations between Zimbabwean artists and those from other countries in a bid to expose Zimbabwe’s talent to other countries. With this project we have incorporated Kenya as well and hope to help African dancehall music to get a wider audience internationally.”
The release of this project is under a A.B.R.A Records “African Dancehall Expose” initiative. Its main purpose is to help open doors for the artists to have their music reach other parts of the world. For this project Kenya is the first country to have a platform. With recording of the next project with Uganda already underway.
Artists on the project include young and energetic artist from Dzivarasekwa Viviun, the versatile Maggikal both from dangerzone, A.B.R.A artists Jusa Dementor the composer of the Riddim, The Tytan the other C.E.O of A.B.R.A Tribe, Dragga Dedefinition and their new signing Nick Cavalli. Also on the compilation are Vigilance artists Layan and the Bigman better known as Winky D, other artists are Kenyan artists Ogwellah, Mashall among others Jamaican artists echo Dwayne and Ranger Rhymez plus Lyrical king from Canada complete a list of artists that is filled with raw talent. ”Just to give you an idea of how big the project is the project’s pre-release mix was done internationally acclaimed mixtape disk jockey DJ Kaas from the Netherlands. ”said Chibamu. The riddim drops on the 22nd of march and will premiere on most of the Kenyan national radio stations, Zimbabwean national stations and many other Reggae platforms around the world.
